REPORTS
  1. President's Report
    1. Eric Woodward reported that he had been busy promoting and managing the advertising for the Fort Langley BIA's Facebook page, with some success. Likes were now up to 2,600 or so, up from 1,600 or so two weeks earlier.
  2. Treasurer's Report
    1. With Jim Dyck absent there was no Treasurer's report. Eric Woodward reported that the annual levy from the Township of Langley had come in.
  3. Streetscape Report
    1. Casey Smith reported that the Township of Langley suggested they defer some maintenance of banner hangers on the infrastructure that was slated to be removed for the utilities conversion. Currently a significant portion of banner locations were in need of repair. Casey confirmed he would follow-up.

  1. Cranberry Festival Update w/ Meghan Neufeld
    1. Meghan Neufeld outlined for the Board that she was now well into the planning of the Cranberry Festival, with the road closure application, sponsorship discussions, entertainment, and graphic design for a new poster.
    2. She confirmed that she has contacted the Langley Fire Department to participate.
    3. She suggested that the Board consider using the a coordinator for the entertainment, perhaps similar to how the BC Special Olympics' entertainment was organized.
    4. Andrew Abreo joined the meeting at 8:20am.

    5. Meghan asked for confirmed that the Board wished to maintain a 20% percentage fee for food vendors, which it confirmed.
    6. And she outlined that there had been no complaints about the increased booth fees, only one person that had request a seniors discount.
    7. Meghan Neufeld left the meeting at 8:38am.

    8. A few Board members expressed a desire to get an additional progress update before the September meeting. It was agreed to have an additional Board meeting in August during the week of August 12th.
  2. Photographs for 2013
    1. Eric Woodward outlined that Dennis Ducklow had agreed to photographs on two random summer days within the village, with a committment for the remainder of 2013 for GranFondo, BC Day, Cranberry Festival, November 11th and a day in December for Christmas, for a total of $1,850.
    2. Eric confirmed that this included complete preparation of the photographs for immediate use on Facebook and the website.
    3. MOTION
      Be it resolved that the Board of Directors hereby authorize the expenditure of $1,850 for professional photographs of GranFondo, BC Day, Cranberry Festival, November 11th and a day in December for Christmas.

    4. Gareth Abreo initiated a discussion regarding the GranFondo photographs not generating the positive response that was generated by the photographs of the May Day parade. It was agreed that professional photographs are worthwhile, and that their value would be judged across all events for reconsideration as whole in the 1st quarter of 2014, and that perhaps the GranFondo would not be included for 2014.
  3. Facebook Advertising Budget
    1. Eric Woodward confirmed that he had used up the $750 already authorized for Facebook advertising of Fort Langley and specific posts.
    2. The Board agreed that Facebook was worthy of continued investment, especially leading up to the Cranberry Festival in mid-October.
    3. MOTION
      Be it resolved that the Board of Directors hereby authorize the expenditure of $750 for Facebook advertising to September 5, 2013.
