The coming of the summer months has been celebrated for generations by the collection of bushes or garlands of flowers and the raising of maypoles. The Village of Fort Langley has honoured this tradition for 85 years in the popular Fort Langley May Day Parade and Festival. We'd like to welcome you to enjoy the 86th Annual Fort Langley May Day parade and Festival on Monday, May 19th, 2008. This festival is a free community event and is attended by approx. 5,000 - 8,000 visitors annually.
The Lions Club kicks off the day with a pancake breakfast at the Lions Hall on the corner of Glover and 88th Avenue from 8:00 - 10:30 am. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids - comes with sausage, coffee, and juice.
The parade begins at 11:00 am on Glover Road, and includes marching bands, the Vancouver Police motorcycle drill team, the May Queen and her Court, and many fun floats and personalities.
The festival begins at 12:30 pm (following the parade), with the traditional Maypole Dancing, kiddie amusement rides and a midway of carnival games, children's entertainment and face painting, live music and entertainment, a Marketplace with vendors, and food concession including the famous Freybe's sausage on a bun and the Fort Langley Lions Chicken BBQ.
