Street Beautification & Capital Projects
Street Banner Program
This is one of the most visible projects that the BIA undertakes. The banners are changed five times a year to reflect the season and events held in the village. Banners are purchased in partnership with the Township of Langley, the Langley Centennial Museum & National Exhibition Centre, and the Fort Langley National Historic Site as a means of reducing the cost for the BIA.
Capital Projects
The BIA presented the Township of Langley a prioritized list of infrastructure improvements for the downtown core which includes: Pedestrian Crosswalks, Street Furniture & Signage, Decorative Heritage Accents, Electrical Upgrades/Trees, Establish Public Parking, Banner Poles with Flower Baskets, Upgrading Sidewalks, Railway Crossing on Glover Road and area, Community Gathering Space, Public Washrooms. Several of these projects are complete and others are in process.
Tents
Utilizing a Township of Langley grant to assist in paying for half of the cost, the BIA was able to purchase tents for use for BIA events. Since then additional tents have been purchased when possible.
Flower Barrel Program
For the past few years, the BIA has received grant funding from the Township to purchase barrels and plants to decorate the streetscape.
Maintenance Worker
The BIA, in joint funding with a government program and the Fort Langley Improvement Society, employs a maintenance worker to keep our sidewalks free of litter, posters and to report maintenance issues on a weekly basis.
