The Fort Langley BIA's Board of Directors is a Board of eight members duly nominated and elected at each Annual General Meeting. There are staggered two year terms to ensure some consistency with Board activities.
At the 2015 Annual General Meeting the two year terms of Eric Woodward, Jim Dyck, Dixie Jacobson and Misty Vanpopta expire. Kevin Speilman was appointed to the Board in April 2014 to a one year term, which also expires in 2015.
Eric is a commercial property owner within Fort Langley, and personally developed and maintains the BIA's primary website, fortlangley.com. Eric serves on the Economic Development and Community Participation Advisory Committees at the Township of Langley. He is also the 2nd Vice-President of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce.
Jim has been involved with the BIA since its creation in 1997. Over these years he has served in all executive positions, and brings tremendous experience, knowledge and history to the BIA.
Dixie is a 20 year resident of Langley, and a partner in the Fort Pub & Grill, and currently operates Carousel Farm Thoroughbreds in Milner. She is also on the Canadian Executive Committee for Canuck Place in Abbotsford, among many other community involvements. She is a partner in the Fort Pub and Grill.
For the past 18 years, Brenda Alberts has owned and operated the award-winning Birthplace of B.C. Gallery. An outstanding community volunteer and 33 year resident of Fort Langley, Brenda was responsible for re-establishing the Remembrance Day service at the Fort Cenotaph, in addition to many community fundraising initiatives.
Following an early career in EDP, as computer operations and programming was known at the time, Cathy began her family and returned to university studying Interior Design, Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Manitoba. A resident of Fort Langley, Cathy has most recently volunteered as a director for the Fort Langley Community Association for three years. Cathy represents Spacial Effects Design.
Blair is a founding partner in Euphoria Chocolates which has been serving Fort Langley for over 8 years. In this time he has assisted in the awareness and promotion of local needs and events.
Kevin was born in Langley, and is a partner in XARIS Construction, a commercial general contracting and construction management company located in Fort Langley. Kevin has been able to participate in a number of projects to rejuvenate Fort Langley, including the renovations to the Fort Mall, and more recently, the Coulter Berry Building.
Misty was formerly the co-owner of the Fort Langley Cyclery, selling, servicing, and renting road and urban bicycles. She continues to represent them on the Board of Directors. She has served on the BIA's marketing committee, and has previously served as a director of Langley Christian School Society.
